Pakistan is started to arrest Afghanis living illegally in Pakistan, these nationwide arrests are ongoing although many of the Afghanis are already left Pakistan in the last two months. Afghans stayed at Pakistan are either concerned about maintaining their lives with their families in Pakistan or feared to go to Afghanistan because of the Taliban regime.

Pakistan saw two major migration waves, the first was in 1979 when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan and the second was in 2021 when the Taliban came back to power. Pakistan today welcomes 1.7 million Afghan refugees or migrants who are undocumented according to the Pakistani government.

Pakistan continues to arrest Afghanis and deports them to Afghanistan if they don’t leave willingly. Some human rights groups including the Amnesty International criticized the deportation policy of Pakistan due to the handling of children and women to Afghanistan. Despite Pakistan’s promises to take a special care of Afghani children and women there seems to be many criticisms arising from the international humanitarian organisations or groups against Pakistan.
