Visegrad Group Presidents meet in Prague, discuss Ukraine’s war, refugee intake, and aid, emphasizing united support against Russia.

On Wednesday, the Presidents of the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia all convened in Prague as part of a meeting of the informal Visegrad Group, a collective all four post-Communist, members of the EU and of NATO belong to.
The bulk of their discussions centered around Ukraine, their position on the ongoing war, and their position regarding providing resources and welcoming refugees. As has been clear in countries such as Hungary and Poland, with rising questions emerging internally in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, how to continue to welcome refugees or how much financial and weapons aid they should send to Ukraine is a pressing issue. While the issue of borders, migrants, and supplying of arms is contentious and not a unifying position for the four states, they all agreed that supporting Ukraine and denying Russia victory was paramount.
