A breakthrough ceasefire agreement has been reached between the Israeli government and the reigning government of Hamas in Palestine. Brokered by a handful of nations such as Qatar, this deal would see a pause in fighting to allow a mutual hostage for prisoner exchange. 50 Israeli hostages — women and children — will be released from Hamas in exchange for the release of 150 Palestinian women and children held in Israeli prisons.

Since the surprise October 7 attack by Hamas which resulted in the death of approximately 1,200 and the abduction of 239 people, and the non-stop counteroffensive unleashed by Israel, there has been a rising call from around the world for stop in fighting in order to provide aid to Palestine. This four-day ceasefire, which took effect on Thursday morning will answer these demands as foreign aid is allowed to enter into Palestine.
