The ongoing war or in other words the persecution brought upon a population in a limited area by Israeli authorities continues to bring infliction upon the Palestinian civilians. According to the latest reports by the Ministry of Health in Gaza, at least 8.525 Palestinian civilians have died, in which we also know that six times more children killed in Gaza than in Ukraine war.

On the other hand, UN General Assembly adopted Gaza resolution calling for immediate and sustained ‘humanitarian truce’ with 120 votes in favour, 14 against and 45 abstentions. However, the feasibility and capability of creating a lasting peace of this resolution is obscure due to the incapability of UN’s implementation of policy decisions without the support of major powers such as the USA, Russia, and China.

Moreover, the US support for Israel seems to be critical to understand the unilateral ongoing war in the region. US President Biden’s unconditional support for Israel is also subject to criticism even inside of his party and its representatives such as Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. The USA and President Biden appears to embrace a policy which excludes and ignores Palestinian civilian deaths in the war-which is also a direct violation of Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Last but not least, Stephen Walt-an American Political Scientist- claims that the root cause of this war is actually set out by the USA. First, he claims that the USA did not include Iran into the peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine and second, invasions and interventions of USA-as a response to 9/11 attacks- in the region countries such as Iraq ignited a downward spiral of US influence in the region and consequently made the region open to threats, wars, uprisings and so on. Therefore, to achieve a lasting peace in the region, all region countries and the major powers should be included in the peace processes and most importantly, increasing number of civilian casualties in Palestine should not be disregarded and Israel’s persecution towards Palestinian people should be stopped via the UN measures with the support of the regional and major powers.
